Altered Rolodex

I would like to thank Accucut Craft and Traci for asking me to be this week's guest blogger. I am so honored and excited! My name is Vickie Kipp and I spend most of my time in my scrapbook room crafting and scrapbooking. My blog is Scrapbooking for Others, and I do alot of that!

This week I will be showing the Altered Rolodex that I entered in the Accucut GrandeMARK Challenge. This Rolodex isn't for phone numbers and addresses; it is for anniversary, birthday and special dates. There are twelve tabbed dividers, one for each month.

 
 
For this project I used the business card size Rolodex Card-Small die, Flowers #5-Mini die, and Nameplates #3 die. The tab is the center cut out from the Nameplate #3 die.

 

 
 
I like to use Matte Perfect Paper Adhesive (PPA) to adhere the paper to the AccuCut acid free chipboard. PPA is a sealer as well as an adhesive.  Let it dry for 24 hours. The divider cards can also be made without chipboard if you would like a thinner divider card like what comes with the Rolodex. Just adhere two pieces of cardstock or heavy pattern paper with PPA. If the cards curl a little while drying, just wait about 24 hours until completely dry and lay something heavy on them to flatten. Once the cards were dry, I had fun decorating each card with ribbon bows, velvet ribbon and chipboard flowers. I even added a little paper and ribbon to the Rolodex base.

 

 

 

 
I have made altered Rolodexes for baby shower gifts also. I labeled the tabs with the months just like the anniversary/birthday divider cards. Then the new mom rearranges the cards starting with the baby’s birth month in front.  A quick way to jot down special notes and dates about the baby’s first year.

National Stationery in NYC

I wanted to post some photos of our booth at National Stationery and some other fun pics I took at the show and on the streets of NYC.  This show is packed full of beautiful and innovative products and the atmosphere is so electric and exciting.

 
Our booth was 40' x 12' and as packed full of projects as always.

 

One of our most popular new dies was the A7 Card-Foldout #1. I also used A7 Cards-Frame on the inside to create a fun and hip Bar Mitzvah invitation.

 

I also love the new A7 Cards-Victorian. Such a versatile shape and can be an invitation one day and a table number the next.

 

Here are some pictures of gorgeous fashion creations created entirely from paper by different companies in the industry. I took pictures of my favorite three, but there was a hallway filled with about 30 mannequins with amazing outfits.

 

 
Nothing like going into the Godiva store in Times Square.

A fun summer card to start the weekend

At the end of the school year I make a card for each of our kids' teachers and include a Target gift card. This year I used the Buckle Card die for the base of the card -- it's 5 3/16" square. (At only $55 this is a great deal on a card die!) Then I used jumbo Flower Garden-Layering to create a layered flower for the front of the card.

I just love this My Mind's Eye Stella Rose paper right now.

 

Here's a picture of the flowers die. Aren't all of the flower and stem options great?

 

For the inside I simply cut a square piece of off-white paper, inked the edges and added a "thank you" with a rubber stamp from Savvy Stamps. 

 

I think I need to make a few more of these cards to have on hand for birthdays.
