Happy "Week After National Scrapbooking Day" and your chance to win a free die!

Posted by Jen Cramer

I hope everyone out there was able to take part in some of the National Scrapbooking Day festivities this weekend, whether in your local stores or online. Many of you were probably hosting the events at your own stores! If not, hopefully you were able to find some time to create something at home.

If you were reading the AccuCut Craft Blog last week, I promised a giveaway every day this week to celebrate NSD -- yes, Monday through Friday this week we're going to give away something for free each day!

Let's start off the week by giving away a Vintage long cut die. I talked about the die in the May 1st post. Here are the two shapes on the die again:

So, to enter the random drawing for the die, tell me what you did to celebrate National Scrapbooking Day. Since I was late posting today, I'll take entries until 3 p.m. CST Tuesday, May 6. We'll draw a winner tomorrow after it closes and post the winner. (Only US and Canada entries for this drawing please. I'll have a gift certificate drawing later this week that will be open to international entries.) EDITED: ENTRIES ARE NOW CLOSED

So what did I do for National Scrapbooking Day? I started a mini album about our two kids for my mother-in-law using a 4" Maya Road Binder and Creative Cafe papers/dies. If it turns out okay I'll post pics later this week. That reminds me... we're starting to get entries for our Mother's Day challenge. Entries are due May 12 and you could win a $50 gift certificate. Read more about the challenge.

Good luck!

I started on Friday with a gift card sale $40 cards for $25 and sold a crazy lot of them. Then we opened on Saturday at 9am for a 24hour crop! I made grungeboard bracelets with deckled edges (using one of the deckle rectangle accucut dies) and a 3 toned purple braid down the center of the bracelet. They were really amazing! The ladies at the crop each got one of these bracelets to keep. Then I did a make and take from EK and K and Company that was a petal fold notecard. You were supposed to cut 4 circles and glue them together but my Accucut saved the day! I have the petal note card die and used that instead. The cool thing was once you stamped the paper and die cut the notecard, you have a pretty neat frame for another page somewhere.

What else, I made a few ATC cards for my May swap while I was waiting for customers. It was very busy! Plus, I used some of my free samples for giveaways which I gave something to every customer who came in the store in honor of NSD! Now, we're on to Mother's Day and soon Father's Day, plus CHA is coming up very soon!!!

My store hosted a crop-til-you-drop that lasted from Friday afternoon to Saturday midnight. I was the lucky person who got to work 9 pm to 7 am...so I spent the weekend helping and having a blast. We had an amazing "fiesta", including an impromptu hula-hoop contest at 4:00 a.m. to keep us awake. I didn't get much cropping done this weekend, but I sure helped others get it done!

Personally I celebrated by scrapbooking some mini albums but I had a give away on my blog that featured some mini kits that used an accucut die. People really loved them! Used the acrylic sheets you sell for them. :)

We held a crop on Friday 10:00 - 10:00
saturday 8:00 - 6:00. Our kits for the croppers used an accucut die. We also sold lots of butterflies. We had two great days.

I celebrated National Scrapbook Day 2008 at home this year in my own little scrapbook room. Scrapbook.com was having all day festivities with hourly challenges so I participated in that with my cyber friends. I had soooo much fun too. I was able to complete challenges, clean my scraproom that was in desperate need as I have been out of town off and on for almost a month, completed 2 layouts and lots of little projects just sitting there waiting for me and met several new online cyber friends. One of the challenges that I am particularly proud of was to scraplift a layout in one hour and I made the cutest page in an hour of me and my husband. It has special meaning to me as it was the second page of a two page layout that I did for a Scrap Pink challenge to raise money back in September 2007.

Once the challenges were over, I continued to scrapbook into the wee hours of the morning. Off and on during the day, I caught up with all the blogs that I love to read and put a few more ideas into my already bulging creative side of my brain.

I also went shopping online and spent the money that I would have spent going to a planned NSD crop.

Scrapingly,
Vickie Kipp

I celebrated NSD with a group of fun ladies. We made album pages and projects. Loads of scrapping, food and laughter!

I actually just browsed the boards. I wasn't feeling up for much more than that.

I actually got to celebrate Nataional Scrapbook day this year outside of my store. Normally I have to work this event, which is fine but it was nice to get to sit down and work for myself. I was so very excited!! It does not happen very often that I get to do this. I love mini books and I was able to get one started and I also completed a Thomas the Tank layout that I have wanted to make since 2002 when we went to Thomas' Day Out!! It was a very successful day for myself and the store!!

My daughter and I bought some new supplies and I decided to spend some time with her scrapbooking.

Oops--I didn't do anything--too tired after traveling all weekend!

A few of my friends and I got together to stamp. We took pictures in honor of Scrapbooking Day and will scrap them the next time we get together.

To celebrate National Scrapbook Day, I browsed some scrapping message boards (which is always fun!), after I came home from work. (I am a 911 dispatcher!) I then worked on organizing a few of my supplies because what better day to "play" with all your stuff? I scrapped a little in my 911 scrapbook and planned a layout for some pictures. I had a GREAT day!

My local scrapbook store had a huge sale. I bought a great deal of paper and went home and played!

I sold stuff at a 350 person event for National Scrapbooking die, and took full advantage of my Accucut to rack up awesome sales......I cut hundreds of cardstock sheet into all the large shapes I have, and sold every single one! Total paper sales $850....profit (dies are long paid for) is probably $500-$600! Sweet! Customers loved my color variety and shape variety!

Hey Jen! Although I was tempted to host a huge NSD full of festivities, I decided to take a break and spend a scrap day with my best friend. We finished off a few layouts and then created ringed 6x6 booklets out of chipboard using the 6x6 album mini die set and coordinating tabs. 6hours later and with a glow of accomplishment my girlfriend had a reference book to keep updated work procedures and I have an adorable planner. It's been at least a few months since I've had that much fun being creatively productive!

Went camping and took tons of cool pics to scrap. :)

A group of scrap buddies and I started a Scrap Club back in December '07. The six of us meet on the first Sunday of every month and spend the day together doing what we love most -- scrapping! This weekend we celebrated National Scrapbook Day by using a new AccuCut album die (6x6) and challenging each other to complete the album in time for next month. We used chip board for the front and back covers, and clear plastic (also purchased from AccuCut) for the center tabbed pages.

We celebrated NSD at Once Upon A Page with drawings and door prizes and a free gift to the first 25 customers. Lots of women in scrapbooking throughout the day and in the area.

I spent my day with other croppers - enjoying the time spent doing what I love - preserving memories. Lots of work, laughs and fun.

I cropped at a local shop Fri, Sat & Sun. With the Maya house die I made an album cover & pages of houses to show pictures of my best friend( from high school) & her family from when I visited her for a few days last summer. I cut some small houses to decorate the pages with also. I like to glue the paper to chipboard & then cut out my own coordinating die shapes for my project. All the pictures were taken at her house. I also cut some pages from the big scalloped circle for a new album. We received many goodies through out the weekend & were even served lunch & dinners. So much FUN!!!

I spent some time organizing and cleaning all my supplies. I also made a list of new items I need for my scrapbook room.

Teacher appreciation week - in reverse! Teachers often pass out notes to their students praising them for a job well done, giving them a free homework pass, etc. Imagine the delight in a student's eyes when that message comes packaged like a gift card - especially if the gift card is a free homework pass or 10 minutes of free time at the listening center, or... well, you get the idea. The gift card can be printed on card stock, cut and corner rounded to look just like the real deal!

I was responsible for making new template kits for a crop event. I felt very creative and had lots of fun making them

I celebrated by making the First Day of School page for my son's scrapbook BEFORE the last day of school!!

I went to a make and take and won a prize!

I went to a friends house and we scrapped the night away with great movies from the 80's and some great music! It was hard to stop at 1AM. :-)
